Throwback Thursday: Boston Hospital

Celebrating 60 Years

In honor of celebrating 60 years in July, F&T will be sharing throwback projects and clients from over the years.

First up, taking it all the way back with Boston City Hospital (BCH), where our founders provided engineering service for 15+ years back in the 60s and 70s. BCH opened in 1864 and was the first municipal hospital established in the US. In 1996, it merged with the Boston University Medical Center Hospital to form the Boston Medical Center.

From 1960 to the 1980s, F&T provided mechanical engineering services for multiple projects, including the intensive care unit, maternity building, and outpatient buildings. This building is currently under study for Boston Landmark status by the Boston Landmarks Commission.
