Previously Mechanical Co-Op for 2 semesters

Wentworth Institute of Technology Graduate, 2019

Hi, I’m Erica and I’m a Mechanical Designer on the HVAC team. I started my career at Fitzemeyer & Tocci Associates, Inc. (F&T) in 2019 after spending two semesters working here as a co-op.

What drew me to choosing this co-op position was that every day is different and brings opportunity to learn something new. After being introduced to the MEP industry through mentorship from some talented engineers, I took great interest in the field and found a home at F&T.

F&T established their co-op program in 2012 and has evolved over the years to develop relationships with students from several universities as they gain work experience in the MEP industry. Through this program we have had many successful co-op students, some of which have progressed into full time team members, like me!

Role of a Co-op:

A typical day on the HVAC team routinely brings a variety of different tasks, learning opportunities, and challenges. As part of the team, you’ll work with engineers of all levels (Group Leaders, Project Engineers, Design Engineers and Designers) to learn duct and piping design. You’ll work on a broad variety of projects and help draft designs using the software Revit. Through working closely with designers and design engineers, working on drawing markups, assisting with load calculations, assisting in BIM model management tasks, and collaborating with other trades, you’ll gain invaluable experience and insight into the MEP industry.
