Q&A
Can you share a brief overview of what you do at the company?
From the point that an opportunity becomes a project through to the completion of design, I’m a liaison between the engineering group, project managers, and market leaders. My focus areas are booking the project in our ERP system; confirming each project is set up in our software platforms (Microsoft Teams and Autodesk Construction Cloud); that the project is formally “kicked off” with internal team members to make sure everyone has a common understanding of the goals, timeline, success factors, and their respective roles; and overseeing our planner board so that each project team has the most current information regarding project deliverables and deadlines. I also work with the engineering managers and project managers to confirm our resources are properly allocated and align with any changes to scope, schedule, or budget for each active project.
What inspired you to join our team, and what has been your journey so far?
It was apparent during my first interview that F&T is tech-forward, entrepreneurial, and everyone has a voice. I was also impressed by the thoughtful programs F&T had in place — well-planned and documented road maps for Continuous Improvements, Thought Leadership, Strategic Initiatives, and Leadership Pipeline. I’ve appreciated being able to contribute to a range of initiatives that cross over with marketing, human resources, and operations. Your role doesn’t limit how you can grow — or help F&T grow — in new ways.
Can you tell us about a project or accomplishment you're particularly proud of?
I really enjoy working with the project management co-ops. Drawing from years of experience and diverse roles in the AEC industry, I feel I can offer valuable insights to help co-op students navigate their responsibilities with confidence. To help each new co-op get up and running more swiftly I co-developed an onboarding document with our first PM co-op, and it evolves with each new student’s experience in the role.
I’m also happy to say that the first PM co-op is now a project manager with F&T, which is a testament to the company’s commitment to developing staff.
