Fitzemeyer & Tocci provided comprehensive design and construction administration support for 60 Boston Public Schools (BPS) buildings as part of the district’s Systemic Improvement Plan (SIP). This initiative focused on installing new filtered water fountains and bottle-filling stations, significantly reducing lead levels in drinking water while also contributing to the district’s sustainability efforts by lowering its carbon footprint.
The project was made possible through $6.125 million in grant funding awarded to BPS by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) under the Water Infrastructure Improvements for the Nation (WIIN) Act. These infrastructure upgrades ensure safer, cleaner drinking water for students and staff, reinforcing BPS’s commitment to health, wellness, and environmental responsibility.
